Dr. Jason Nowak, DPM

Board-Certified Foot & Ankle Surgeon

Dr. Jason Nowak is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon with over 15 years of experience and dual certification in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. He specializes in total ankle replacement and provides comprehensive care for sports injuries, fractures, deformities, arthritis, and complex reconstructive conditions.

Dr. Nowak is a well-published author who has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed journals and authored multiple textbook chapters. He is the founder of the Shasta Ortho Foot & Ankle Institute and served as the founding fellowship director of the Northern California Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Fellowship Program, where he trained surgeons in advanced foot and ankle techniques. As a national lecturer and educator, he regularly teaches across the country on total ankle replacement, complex reconstruction, and surgical decision-making, and has also contributed to the development of total ankle replacement implants.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Marquette University and his medical degree from Des Moines University’s College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Nowak completed a three-year surgical residency at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Milwaukee, with extensive training in rearfoot and ankle reconstruction.

A Wisconsin native, Dr. Nowak was raised in Wautoma and developed a lifelong passion for athletics and the outdoors. He is committed to treating every patient with respect, honesty, and clear communication—believing that strong relationships are the foundation of excellent care.

Dr. Jay Christensen, DPM

North Shore Foot & Ankle of Appleton, WI

Dr. Jay Christensen is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon with advanced training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. He is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care, with a strong emphasis on conservative treatment whenever possible.

Originally from Brandon, South Dakota, Dr. Christensen earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Biology from the University of South Dakota. He went on to graduate third in his class from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago.

He completed a three-year surgical residency at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, with a focus on reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery, and further enhanced his training in trauma at the University of Missouri.

Dr. Christensen has been practicing in Wisconsin since 2015 and is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in both foot and ankle surgery. In addition to his clinical work, he serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery and has taught surgical techniques to physicians across the country.

While experienced in advanced surgical procedures, Dr. Christensen prioritizes patient education and believes in exploring non-surgical treatment options whenever appropriate.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors.

Megan Kendall (NP)

North Shore Foot & Ankle of Appleton, WI

Megan Kendall is an Appleton native who enjoys being back in her hometown after spending several years living and working in Nashville, TN. Megan received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marian University in Fond du Lac, WI. She then moved to Nashville, TN and worked as a Registered Nurse in the Adult Emergency Department for 8 years. She obtained her Master of Nursing Science at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Megan is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Megan enjoys working with patients and treating their foot conditions in order to get them back on their feet and back to living their life. She treats patients with conditions including, but not limited to, wounds and infections, ingrown nails, plantar fasciitis, and pain.

In her free time, she enjoys exercising, being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
